Back to Dental Implants

Natural-looking, long-lasting, and extremely durable, single-tooth dental implants are the best alternative to natural teeth.

Finding your ideal tooth replacement can be challenging, but many options are available here at The Cathedral Close Dental Practice. With our skills, we can guide you to the right choice for you and your oral health.

We often recommend dental implants, including single-tooth implants. When it comes to replacing a natural tooth, nothing comes as close to the real thing as a dental implant, and we love being able to help our patients eat, speak, and smile with confidence again.

FAQs

What is a single-tooth dental implant?

Single-tooth dental implants comprise a titanium screw that is placed inside the jawbone and a prosthetic tooth that is held in place on top of it. Body-safe and biocompatible, the titanium screw acts as a peg for the new prosthesis and performs the same function as a natural tooth’s root.

Why might I need a single-tooth dental implant?

Tooth replacement is incredibly important, whether you’ve been missing a tooth for a while or need to have one removed. The most common causes of such tooth loss or extraction are advanced gum disease, tooth decay, or a severe injury or accident to the face. You may also need a replacement due to advanced wear and tear.

What are the benefits of a single-tooth dental implant?

  • Stable and secure.
  • Eat, smile, and speak with confidence.
  • Helps promote the health of the jaw and prevent bone density loss.
  • Helps support the remaining surrounding healthy teeth.
  • Helps support the facial structure of the patient.
  • Aesthetically pleasing and natural looking.
  • Enhances the smile.
  • Boosts confidence.
  • Long-lasting – can last a lifetime with proper oral care and hygiene.

What is the treatment process like?

  • We’ll ascertain your suitability for treatment with an X-ray or CBCT scan.
  • We’ll first insert the implant, which will be done under local anaesthetic.
  • There’ll be a short wait of 2-3 months while the bone and implant fuse together – during this time, we can offer you a temporary prosthesis.
  • You’ll have your personal prosthesis placed in practice.

How long is the treatment journey for a single-tooth dental implant?

The treatment time for a single-tooth dental implant usually takes several months.
